Greater epithelial ridge

WebJan 3, 2014 · The greater epithelial ridge (GER) is a developmental structure that is important during maturation of the organ of Corti in mice. Present at birth, the GER typically disappears by postnatal day 10 (P10) [ 9, 10 ]. In the mouse, most apoptosis in the developing cochlear system occurs during embryogenesis [ 11 ]. WebRspo2 is expressed in the greater epithelial ridge (GER; medial to IHCs) with a base-to-apex gradient (high at the base) at E17.5 (Fig. 2). Loss of Rspo2 results in disorganized type II SGNs and an improperly formed organ of Corti at the cochlear apex.

WebNov 10, 2024 · In the neonatal cochlea, the greater epithelial ridge (GER) is a mitotically quiescent and transient organ, which has been shown to nonmitotically regenerate SCs. Here, we ablated Lgr5 + SCs using Lgr5-DTR mice and found mitotic regeneration of SCs by GER cells in vivo. WebDerived from cochlear epithelium (organ of Corti), most likely the greater epithelial ridge (GER), at embryonic day E13.5 (plug in mouse designated E0.5 and birth at E18-19).
