WebWell, first, I don't think this is a Silvercast. Looks like a Minicast-1. Parts may be similar in some areas, but note the different type of pushbutton this reel has compared to the Silvercast. I think the solution is simple; the part you show protruding out of the rear of the spool with the threads on it actually separates from the spool.
